Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 strictly bans all forms of huntings from pot to sport, using any kind of methodology, from traps to dogs. Animals can be “culled” in regulated manner & supervised by the Forest Department, on being tagged “vermins” regionally. Special permits are issued by govt. to shoot man-eaters/rogue elephants (that also on failure to capture or contain).
